STEM Saturday with Schenectady Community Schools

Expired

Description

STEM Saturdays are opportunities to host hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities at local elementary schools. This program is aimed at Kindergarten through 5th grade students but is also open to middle schoolers and high schoolers and can focus on any area of the STEM fields.

The best way to participate in this activity is with a Union College club or organization. If you are part of a group that has a mission of exploring and celebrating STEM activities - this is a great event for you. Union student groups hosting activities at STEM Saturdays will need all student participants to sign up individually so Union College transportation can be coordinated by the Kenney Center staff.

Union students who sign up to take part in this activity agree to create a hands-on activity and host a station centered around a STEM concept that can be explained to school children. This can range from something as simple as coloring in a picture of wildlife all the way to complex scientific experiments and engineering demonstrations. Some kids will spend just a few minutes at a single station and then rotate to another. Other kids will fall in love with an activity and spend the full two hours there. When signing up for this event, please note your Club Name and any activity ideas (even preliminary ones) in the "Response Notes."
