Who We Are

As a regional farmers market, we are an integral part of Schenectady’s cultural landscape, connecting farm and city to create a resilient, equitable and sustainable food system. We are committed to creating and maintaining a diverse marketplace that is accessible for all community members with vendors who reflect the diverse cultures and experiences of our surrounding communities. We collaborate with community partners to educate ourselves and community about farmers, healthy food and food access.

What We Do

Since 2008, Schenectady Greenmarket has been the place to buy fresh local produce and artisan goods in a festive community atmosphere. Our year round farmers market hosts 80+ vendors and welcomes 3,500-4,000 customers to the market and other downtown Schenectady businesses each Sunday. We strive to be an affordable and accessible option for all to purchase quality local foods, while supporting the sustainability of our local food system. We accomplish this through programs such as our Food Box Program where we purchase produce from our farmers at full price to create low-cost food boxes for our low-income community members. A share with $20-$25 of product costs only $10. Our market also offers a $1 for $1 match up to $20/day to EBT/SNAP customers to purchase additional fresh fruits and veggies through the Double Up Food Bucks program. Lastly, our market accepts Farmers Market Nutrition Program ($5 coupons for WIC and CSFP participants) and Fresh Connect Checks ($2 coupon for every $5 spent in SNAP) which further increases the purchasing power of our low-income community to provide local and nutritious food for their families.
