Community Day is an annual event where St. Luke's Church supports the local community with free household items and food. The event takes place on Friday, September 27, but takes many days to prepare, and volunteer support is needed through each stage:
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9/17-9/19 and 9/24-9/26
On all of these days we have volunteer hours from 10AM-1PM
Location: St. Luke's Pastoral Center (corner of Division St. & State St.)
Task: Volunteers will receive donations at the Daily Bread Food Pantry entrance, and sort them for condition and category in the large gathering space of the Pastoral Center. This is a huge part of our preparations for Community Day.
Thursday, 9/26 at 4PM until we are done (about one hour is expected)
Location: St. Luke's Pastoral Center and St. Luke's Church
Task: We will be moving tables and other items from the Pastoral Center to the Church in preparation for Community Day.
Friday, 9/27 from 12noon-2PM.

Task: Moving things from the Church & Pastoral Center to their designated spot in the Furman Street parking lot.
Friday, 9/27 from 2:00-4:30PM

Task 1: Keep tables organized, and assist attendees as needed. Table assignments may include clothing, household goods, toys, and baby items. Assignments will be made based on volunteer preferences and the needs of the day.
Task 2: Event Greeters-Greeters will be stationed around the perimeter of the event space to direct people to the entrance line prior to the start of the event. Will also have information to provide about the layout of the tables and the organizations who are present.
Friday, 9/27 from 4:30PM until we are done (about 1-2 hours expected)
