Donation day is a major college initiative that makes the residence hall move-out process more environmentally- and community-friendly through a multifaceted donation drive. During the Spring Term move-out, students drop items such as bedding and linens, non-perishable food items, clothing, and shoes into boxes in residence halls labeled with Donation Day signs. These items are then bagged by staff volunteers and donated to local charity partners. Every year, Donation Day saves thousands of pounds of reusable goods from ending up in landfills.
The Donation Program was created to assist and benefit local community agencies, such as Habitat for Humanity, Weed and Seed of Hamilton Hill, YWCA, among others. Students are encouraged to donate furniture, appliances, cookware, lamps, clothing, non-perishables (Unopened) and computers.
