Union's annual Community Carnival, taking place on May 17, 2026, continues to be a highlight of the spring term, bringing together students, families, and children for a day full of energy and connection. In a recent interview, Miyah Falk '26 shared insight into what makes this event so special.
For Falk, the most meaningful part is simple: "seeing the smiles and joy on all of the kids' faces." With activities designed for all ages-from toddlers to high school students-the event creates a space where kids can play freely, connect with others, and make lasting memories. That joy extends outward, making it just as rewarding for families and student volunteers.
The carnival has grown significantly over the years. Organizers continuously improve by addressing past challenges and expanding participation. Each year brings more student involvement and greater community turnout, strengthening the event's impact.
Planning is a year-round effort, with major preparation beginning months in advance. By the time spring arrives, teams are fully engaged in ensuring every detail is ready.
A wide range of student groups contribute, including cultural organizations, religious groups, Greek life, sports teams, and arts clubs. Their creativity fuels an impressive lineup of activities such as basketball, soccer, wiffle ball, face painting, puzzles, Plinko, book giveaways, and more.
Students interested in participating are encouraged to sign up through the Community Connections website or contact Ben DeAngelis directly.
With its continued growth and vibrant atmosphere, the Community Carnival remains a cherished tradition that brings the Union community together each year.
