Who We Are

The Schenectady Farm to School project actively integrates locally sourced foods into school meals and curricula, fostering a deeper understanding of agriculture and healthy eating among students. Through hands-on experiences like school gardens, students learn about where their food comes from, promoting nutrition, food literacy, and sustainable living. This initiative also aims to support local farmers by creating a consistent market for their produce, strengthening the regional food system.

There are many ways to volunteer in support of this program including

  • Volunteer in a school garden
  • Volunteer at a Farm to School community event
  • Volunteer with the Zoller Elementary School Composting Project
  • Volunteer with the FIRE Chefs program a seed to table experience for our middle schoolers)
