Who We Are

Altamont Program, Inc.is an organization within an umbrella entity, Peter Young Housing, Industries, and Treatment, which encompasses four nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, that provide essential services daily to help the impoverished, addicted or socially disenfranchised. provides housing, job training, education, employment services, and counseling. The four organizations are: - Altamont Programs provides housing, job training, education, employment services, and counseling. - 820 River Street provides substance abuse rehabilitation along with other services such as English as a second language, "Honor Court", mental health programs, medical services, etc. - Vesta purchases and rehabilitates buildings for housing, training or employment opportunities. - Peter Young Foundation provides a fund raising function and contributes to the other entities of the organization.

What We Do

Altamont Program, Inc. provides essential services daily to help the impoverished, addicted or socially disenfranchised. provides housing, job training, education, employment services, and counseling. At the Altamont Program Inc. Family Shelter at the Schuyler Inn, 575 Broadway, Menands, NY, 12204 we provide: Emergency & Transitional Housing The Schuyler Inn is a 96 room family homeless shelter serving families from Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady Counties. We provide: - Emergency and transitional housing - Three meals a day in a congregate setting. - Intensive case management - Youth activities such as crafts, story hours, movie nights, holiday and monthly birthday parties to make it as enjoyable as possible for the children. - Parenting, financial management, health literacy, and housekeeping classes at least once a month. Employment Services At the Schuyler Inn, we offer Employment services and we are expanding! Not only do we offer Employment Services for residents at Schuyler Inn, but we also partner with Albany County Department of Social Services as the provider of Employment Programming. The Employment Services team provides: - Comprehensive assessment & planning - Employment barrier removal - Community service linkage - Life Skills & Job Readiness Classes - Resumes & Work Experience - Food Service & Computer training classes - Intensive Case Management - Job Retention … And any other necessary services to fulfill our mission! Home Delivery Meals - Our Home Meal Delivery Program serves the seniors of Albany County seven days a week. - Through our staff and team of volunteers, we prepare and deliver 2 to 3 meals to over 140 seniors daily. Our goal is to make sure that the seniors of Albany County have adequate food. - Not only do we provide a healthy meal to seniors who are unable to prepare meals for themselves, but our mission is to also offer a friendly and welcoming face and a brief hello
