The City of Troy and TRIP are participating in the City of Troy's Household Hazardous Waste Day on July 27th.
Specifically, organizations and volunteers will be:
- diverting latex paints from the waste stream
- putting leftover paint in buckets (2 or 5 gallon buckets), mix it, and pour it into clean 1 gallon buckets or paint cans
- volunteers will deliver the paint cans to 415 River Street, Troy.
Diverting the paint helps the environment in three distinct ways:
- Keeping paint out of the landfill, thereby helping the environment
- Reducing costs to homebuyers, homeowners, landlords, etc. by providing the recycled paint to the community at a later date
- Teaching residents new skills as we learn how to properly mix paints and reduce wasted paint
