What is South End Children's Café?
The mission of the South End Children's Cafe is to impact food security, address food equality and food justice, enhance academic success and positively influence the physical and mental health of children residing in the South End of Albany, New York by offering free, healthy dinner time meals along with homework help, academic enrichment, mentoring, exercise and participation in the arts Monday through Friday. Community volunteers join the children daily, assisting with school projects, homework, goal setting and acquiring needed resources for good health and overall wellness. Family Members are invited to participate in all of the programs and to dine with the children in a family style atmosphere.
Project Description:
The South End Children's Café is having some issues with their building this week and are in need of food donations due to the fact that they may not be able to store food on premises for their Friday drop-offs to nearly 100 families.
They are asking for help with donations of a Bag of Love.
The Bag Of Love should include:
- 1 box of pasta
- 1 jar pasta sauce
- 1 can chicken
- 1 can tuna
- 1 loaf of bread
- 1 box cereal
- 1 box granola bars
- 1 box apple juice
- 1 fresh fruit, any kind
- 2 cans vegetables
- 2 cans of soup
- and anything else you would like to include, but it not necessary
Please deliver your Bag of Love to the South End Children's Café, 25 Warren St. Albany NY 12202, on Friday January 15th between 11:0am-12:30pm. We ask that you please respond to this need by Thursday so we are aware of how we should plan to fill in any gaps.
