THIS SHIFT IS RESTRICTED TO ORIENTATION STAFF AND KENNEY CENTER STAFF
Support the site setup and cleanup of our local Neighborhood Association's Clean-Up
This Site Leader role does not include managing a group of student volunteers. Responsibilities of this shift include
- supporting community members in setting up the tents, tables, and materials for the Clean-Up.
- supporting community members in communicating directions to our students
- gathering and motivating our students
- ensuring our students have the resources they need to be successful
- breaking down the tents and tables at the end of the event
Dress for the weather and bring a water bottle.
This shift takes place at the Williams Center for Campus and Community Safety (645 Nott St.). Participants will meet at Old Chapel and then walk together to the Union College Campus Safety building.

Waiver of Liability
This is a legally binding waiver executed by me, 'the Participant' named above, to The Trustees of Union College in the Town of Schenectady in the State of New York a/k/a Union College. For Participants under 18 years of age, this waiver must be executed by a parent or legal guardian.
1. I, the undersigned am interested in participating in, or required to participate in, off-campus volunteer events sponsored by Union to be held between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027, which activities involve:
- Walking or being transported by bus to local volunteer sites in Schenectady or the surrounding area.
- Volunteering at sites that include but are not limited to: non-profit organizations, donation centers, food pantries, nursing homes, schools and youth centers, animal shelters, parks and nature preserves, gardens and farms, neighborhoods.
- Performing physical or manual tasks that include but are not limited to: cleaning, organizing, sorting, packing, lifting, carrying, gardening, farming, yardwork, outdoor cleanup, painting, event setup, athletic activities.
2. It is my express intent that this
Waiver shall bind the members of my family and spouse, if I am alive, and my
estate, heirs, administrators, personal representatives, or assigns, if I am
deceased, and shall be deemed as a release, waiver, discharge, and covenant not
to sue Union.
3. I understand that there are certain dangers, hazards, and risks inherent in
this exercise which may include, but not be limited to, accidental injury
arising from the activities listed under paragraph 1 above, which could result
in serious or even mortal injuries; and that Union cannot and does not assume
responsibility for any such personal injuries. I hereby release, discharge, and
agree to hold harmless Union and its Trustees, agents, employees, and
representatives from any and all liability arising out of or in connection with
my participation in the exercise. For purposes of this Waiver, liability means
all claims, demands, losses, causes of action, suits, or judgments of any kinds
that I or my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns may have against
Union, its Trustees, agents, employees, representatives, and volunteers because
of personal injury, accident, illness, or death that occurs to a person,
including me, and that results from any cause including, but not limited to,
the passive or active negligence or other acts of Union, its Trustees, agents,
employees, representatives, and volunteers other than fraud, willful
misconduct, or a knowing violation of the law.
4. Knowing the dangers, hazards, and risks of such activities, and in
consideration of being permitted to participate in the exercise, on behalf of
myself, my heirs, and personal representative(s), I , the undersigned, do
hereby agree to assume all the risks and responsibilities surrounding my
participation in the exercise and, in advance, do hereby release and forever
discharge, waive, and covenant not to sue Union from and against any and all
liability for any harm, injury, damage, claims, demands, actions, causes of
action, costs, and expenses of any nature whatsoever which I may have or which
may hereafter accrue to me, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or
injury, including, but not limited to, suffering and death, that may be
sustained by me while in, on, upon, or in transit to or from the premises where
the exercise or any adjunct to the exercise occurs or is being conducted.
5. In signing this Agreement, I acknowledge and represent that I have fully
informed myself of the contents of the foregoing Waiver of Liability Agreement
by reading it before I sign it and understand that I sign this Agreement as my
own free act and deed; no oral representations, statements, or inducements,
apart from the foregoing written statement, have been made, I further state
that I am at least eighteen (18) years of age and fully competent to sign this
Agreement; and that I execute this Agreement for full, adequate, and complete
consideration fully intending to be bound by the same.
6. I further agree that this Agreement shall be construed in accordance with
the laws of the State of New York. If any term or provision of this Agreement
shall be held illegal, unenforceable, or in conflict with any law governing
this Agreement, the validity of the remaining portions shall not be affected
thereby. Any action in regard to this Agreement or arising out of its terms and
conditions shall be instituted before the New York State Supreme Court, Fourth
Judicial Department, Schenectady County.
