- Greet patients, families and their visitors in the waiting room and in patient rooms
- Provide comfort to patients, families and visitors; examples: pillows, blankets, meal vouchers, coffee, water, chairs, etc
- Assist staff with routine duties such as errands, making copies, stocking of supplies, etc
- Interact with physicians, nurses and staff for status updates to patients, families, visitors
- Visit with patients, families, visitors and provide general information
- Escort families and visitors
- Access hospital resources as needed to provide comfort to families during times of stress
- Refer complaints to appropriate manager
- Uphold patient confidentiality
Volunteer must be Comfortable in an emergency setting with a basic understanding of the stress patients and family members experience when in crisis. Positive attitude. Ability to manage self in a setting filled with high emotion.
