International Youth Fellowship of Albany (IYF). IYF is a nonprofit youth organization dedicated mental health awareness, counseling, and alternative extracurricular services provision for young people.
The acclaimed Gracias Choir and Orchestra are coming to the Albany area for the first time and will be performing their signature theatrical performance, the Gracias Christmas Cantata at the Palace Theatre on Sunday January 5th at 7 pm free of charge for the Capital District community. The Gracias Christmas Cantata is a stunning musical event that touches countless lives in over 40 countries each year. The Cantata Tour has quickly grown from 9 cities in 2011 to 29 cities in 2019. Last year, over 130,000 people in North American attend this event.
With the Cantata, we wish to inspire and to plant hope in the hearts of people who are down on their luck and who are facing challenges in their lives through the magic of music and theatre. We believe that music unites people across socioeconomic status and backgrounds and through free events such as these, we hope to bring the community a little bit closer together. Also, I am pleased that many underprivileged families have the chance to come and be inspired by the performing arts because the event is free of charge.
We are offering an opportunity for people to volunteer as ushers for the event:
1) Any person at the high school level or above are welcome to volunteer.
2) We offer volunteer hours and a certificate of service for those who participate.
3) Volunteers will have to participate in one of the several training workshops available before the actual performance at the Palace.
Workshops are from 2 pm to 4 pm on the following Saturdays: 12/14, 12/21
