Yates Elementary is excited to begin preparing for our annual Back-to-School BBQ, and we would love to have your organization join us in helping students and families start the school year with confidence and support.

Event Details- Date: Monday, August 31, 2026 Time: 12:00pm - 3:00pm

Location: Yates Elementary School - 725 Salina St., Schenectady, NY, 12303

This event is more than just a celebration—it’s an opportunity for our community to come together and ensure every child has the resources, encouragement, and connections they need for a successful school year. We’re looking for community organizations, local businesses, and volunteers to participate in a variety of ways, including:

Hosting an informational table to connect families with valuable programs and services.

Tours of the building.

Providing volunteers to assist throughout the event.

Offering free haircuts or hair braiding.

Donating or distributing backpacks and school supplies.

Providing free school clothing or sneakers.

Sharing any other free resources or services that support students and families.

This is a completely FREE event for students and families. To ensure every family can fully enjoy the experience without financial barriers, all resources, services, products, giveaways, and promotional items provided by participating organizations must be offered at no cost. We kindly ask that vendors refrain from selling products or charging fees during the event. It truly takes a village to raise a child. When schools, families, businesses, and community organizations work together, we create opportunities that help every student feel supported, prepared, and empowered to thrive. Your partnership can make a lasting impact on children and families throughout our community.
