Jacobson Community Engagement Fellowship
- Planning programming and initiatives that enrich the experience of K-12 and adult education students and their families
- Recruiting and coordinating college student volunteers to support events and activities within the school system
- Tutoring and guiding K-12 and adult education students in 1-on-1 and group sessions
Candidates for this position should expect to:
- Manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Contribute as part of a diverse team as well as on their own
- Work approximately 5 hours per week during the academic year including time at Union College and at local schools
- Manage their own transportation via a personal vehicle or public transportation
This position is awarded to 2 Union College students each academic year. Jacobson Fellows receive a $500 stipend for each term they serve in the position (not to be awarded to students when studying outside of Schenectady). In addition to the stipend of up to $1500 per academic year, Fellows have access to a budget up to $300 annually for programming supplies. Fellows who serve successfully in this role can be renewed in their position for up to 4 years.
Applications for the Jacobson Community Engagement Fellowship are due via UEngage by the last Friday in April and should include three components:
- A personal statement of 200-300 words describing the candidate’s reason for interest in the position
- The candidate’s current resume
- Contact information for a professional or academic reference who can attest to the candidate's skills and attributes
