Who We Are

St. Luke's parish is a culturally, economically, and socially diverse community of baptized women, men, and children, who, inspired by the wisdom of the Gospel and by the tradition of the Catholic Church, are committed to fulfilling the mission and ministry of Jesus. As people of faith, we are called upon to welcome, dignify and respect all of God's people. We are called to serve the needs of others by sharing our time, talent, and treasure.

What We Do

St. Luke's parish is dedicated to sharing our gifts and talents for the benefit of the common good. We accomplish this mission in large part through service to our surrounding community. Our Daily Bread Food Pantry serves people in need throughout Schenectady County, of all faiths and backgrounds, including marginalized groups such as immigrants, seniors, children, working poor, and multigenerational families sharing housing. It operates as a “People’s Choice” pantry, allowing individuals and families to select the foods they prefer, which promotes dignity and reduces food waste. Its volunteers speak to guests daily about the challenges they face economically, with transportation, and with accessing resources, and then work to address their needs. In addition to the pantry, St. Luke's engages in community outreach by hosting events throughout the year. These events include our Annual Community Day, Community Halloween Party, and participation in the Works of Mercy Initiative collaborative ministry with our neighboring parishes. Our Catholic faith teaches us that it is in giving that we receive. We continuously seek to further our mission of service to the wider community, giving back, one person at a time.
