Transportation

Transportation is automatically provided for all students, faculty and staff participating in Large-scale Union College Community Engagement events, such as John Calvin Toll Day and Earth Day Community CleanUp. For other smaller-scale programs and events, please review the information below.

Reserving Union College Transportation

Are you participating in a community engagement activity as part of your Union College organization/club/team/group? Union College Transportation options are available to you.

Union College Transportation may be available when participation in a service activity is coordinated through an official Union College organization, such as a Club, Team, Fraternity/Sorority Chapter, Academic Department, or Cohort of an Academic Program.

If you are participating in a community engagement activity as part of your membership in a recognized club or organization, transportation must be organized through Student Activities as personal vehicles are not allowed for club or organization activities. You can stop by Reamer 404 or schedule a meeting with Student Activities staff at getinvolved@union.edu to determine what best suits your needs for a trip.

For other events that are part of official Union affiliations, please reach out to the staff members who support and advise your organization for guidance with this process.

Other Transportation Options

For individuals, or unofficial groups, a variety of other transportation options are available. Many community experiences are in downtown Schenectady - close enough to campus that students who are able to walk can utilize that option.

The Capital Region is home to a comprehensive public transportation system - the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA). Students can use all CDTA bus routes including the Northway Xpress and STAR service. Just swipe your ID through the farebox and go!
